Zambia’s
leading network operator, Zamtel has launched its new Customer Service Center
in Kalikiliki, a suburb of Lusaka’s Munali Constituency.
The new
start-of-the-art center is expected to provide a wide range of services
including Sim purchases, Sim registration, Sim replacement, airtime purchases,
Mobile money transactions, velocity and other fixed service payments, customer
care, and general customer inquiries.
Speaking
during the launch, the Minister of Water Development and Sanitation, Mike Mposha
said the government is pleased with innovative digital money solutions that are
reducing human contact during financial transactions and thereby promoting
financial transparency and enhancing the fight against corruption.
According to him his government is encouraging the adoption
and use of digital products and platforms that are helping to cut the cost of
doing business.
The Chief Commercial Officer of Zamtel, James Chona in his
remarks disclosed that Zamtel has adopted a unique franchise model through
which the company is assisting enterprising Zambians to seize opportunities
being created in the telecoms value chain.
He said
so far, over 400 direct jobs have been created as more Zambians are taking up
the opportunity to partner with Zamtel to run Customer Service Centres.
