The Kenya Space Agency
(KSA) has officially launched its Strategic Plan for 2023-2027, outlining a comprehensive
roadmap for harnessing the potential of space technologies to drive national
development.
The unveiling ceremony
was graced by the Chief Guest, Hon. Adan Duale, Cabinet Secretary for Defence,
alongside senior leadership from the Ministry of Defence and Kenya Defence
Forces, as well as distinguished guests from various stakeholders.
The KSA Strategic Plan
2023-2027 is anchored on the vision of "Effective utilization of space
capabilities for national development." The plan prioritizes six key focus
areas:
- 1. Coordination and
Regulation of Space Activities
- 2. National Space
Capability Development
- 3. Utilization of Space
Services and Technologies
- 4. Space Research,
Innovation, and Development
- 5. Resource Mobilization
- 6. Strengthening
Institutional Capacity
These focus areas aim to
nurture Kenya's burgeoning space economy, leveraging space technologies to
address societal needs and contribute to national development. The plan's
implementation will be guided by a collaborative approach, engaging
stakeholders from the government, private sector, academia, and civil society.
With the launch of this
ambitious plan, Kenya is poised to explore new frontiers in space and tap into
the vast opportunities offered by space technologies.
