TikTok, the popular
social media platform, has announced new guidelines for creators looking to
earn money through its live streaming feature, TikTok LIVE. The guidelines aim
to promote positive, inclusive, and authentic communities and will be enforced
through a combination of technology and human moderation.
Under the new guidelines,
certain types of content, including inauthentic or low-quality content, will
not be eligible for monetization. Creators who violate the guidelines will be
notified and may face restrictions on their access to monetization features.
TikTok's Community
Guidelines and Terms of Service will continue to set the standards for
acceptable content on the platform, including TikTok LIVE. The company is also
updating its approach to onboarding new LIVE creators, with a phased rollout of
advanced LIVE monetization features to help new streamers learn the rules as
they grow their audience.
"We
believe these updates will empower our LIVE community's creativity while
helping ensure our features promote the positive interactions they're intended
for," said Waseem Sayegh, Head of TikTok
LIVE, Middle East, Turkey, Africa, and Pakistan. "The vast majority of LIVE creators already follow our safety
rules and Monetization Guidelines, and we'll continue to build resources,
moderation processes, and tools that can help them foster safe, inclusive, and
authentic LIVE communities."
TikTok has also launched
a new LIVE Safety Center resource and updated its in-app LIVE Safety Education
Center, where creators can view policy violations and educational content. With
some of the industry's strictest live streaming requirements, creators must be
at least 18 years old and meet additional criteria to go live.
These updates aim to
promote a positive and inclusive environment for creators and viewers alike,
while ensuring that TikTok LIVE remains a safe and authentic space for
community building and creativity.
