AXIAN Telecom announces leadership changes at Tigo Tanzania and Free in Senegal

AXIAN Telecom, a leading pan-African telecom group, has announced changes in leadership at Tigo Tanzania and Free in Senegal. Effective July 1st, 2024, Kamal Okba will take over as Chief Executive Officer of Free in Senegal, replacing Mamadou Mbengue, who is leaving the group to pursue new opportunities.

Kamal Okba, currently the CEO of Tigo Tanzania, brings over 25 years of experience in the telecommunications industry, including 15 years in leadership roles. During his tenure at Tigo Tanzania, he achieved double-digit revenue growth and focused on enhancing the customer experience.

Jerome Albou, Chief Technology and Information Officer of AXIAN Telecom, will serve as interim CEO of Tigo Tanzania, in addition to his current responsibilities.

Stephane Oudin, CEO of AXIAN Telecom, expressed his confidence in Kamal Okba's ability to lead Free in Senegal into its next phase of development, citing his proven track record in securing market leadership positions. Oudin also thanked Mamadou Mbengue for his instrumental role in developing Free in Senegal and his disruptive approach to the market. Finally, he acknowledged Jerome Albou's support during the interim period.
