The Co-Founder & CEO
of InstaDeep, Karim Beguir has urged governments to prioritize responsible AI
development as the technology hurtles towards unprecedented advancements.
Speaking at the inaugural AI Retreat in Dubai, Beguir noted that AI is rapidly
approaching PhD-level expertise in most fields, poised to become an indispensable
digital colleague.
According to him
governments must create an environment that fosters innovation while ensuring
responsible AI development, as the technology's vast potential demands
proactive regulation. The AI Retreat, part of the Dubai Universal Blueprint for
Artificial Intelligence, brought together industry experts to explore the
critical role governments play in shaping AI's future.
Moderated by Khalifa Al
Qama, Director of the Dubai Sandbox, the panel discussion delved into the
importance of regulatory frameworks in harnessing AI's economic potential.
Nicolas Prettejohn, Head of AI at Palantir, and Rod Solaimani, Middle East
Policy & Partnerships Lead at OpenAI, shared valuable insights on the need
for forward-thinking regulation.
Dubai and the UAE are
trailblazing in AI regulation, with a comprehensive strategy led by H.E Omar
Sultan AlOlama and flagship events like the World Government Summit. This
visionary approach is likely to inspire other nations to unlock their AI
potential, solidifying Dubai's position as a hub for innovation and progress.
As AI continues to
advance at an unprecedented pace, the call to action is clear: governments,
industries, and experts must collaborate to ensure responsible AI development
and harness its transformative power.
