The Ethiopian Minister
of Innovation and Technology, Dr. Belete Molla, has disclosed that his ministry
will formally recognize staff members who have successfully completed training
under the ambitious 5 Million Ethiopian Coders Initiative. This initiative aims
to equip Ethiopians with the digital skills necessary to participate fully in
the global digital economy, fostering self-empowerment, job creation, and
wealth generation.
Accredited
employees are those who have completed training provided by the Ethio Coders
Initiative, which is designed to ensure that all Ethiopians can access the
opportunities presented by the digital revolution.
In his remarks,
Minister Molla emphasized the importance of skill empowerment as a foundational
step toward future success in Ethiopia's digital economy. “To lay the
groundwork for future opportunities in our digital economy, we must first
empower ourselves with the necessary skills,” he stated, highlighting the
ministry's focus on enhancing digital competencies in constructing a
sustainable digital economy.
The Minister
urged all trainees to harness the knowledge gained to serve themselves, their
institutions, and the country at large. He noted, “Our aim should be to use
the skills we acquire to benefit our institutions and our nation, ultimately
contributing to global development.”
He acknowledged
the unwavering support of the Prime Minister in driving this sector forward,
stressing that collaborative efforts are essential to achieve significant
change. He stated, “When we have a ready-made workforce, we will achieve our
goals. All institutions must create platforms to facilitate the training of 5
million Ethiopian coders in the future.”
The skills
obtained through this initiative have the potential to transform the workforce
and empower individuals to realize their ambitions. The Minister expressed
confidence that the trainees would leverage their newly acquired skills to make
meaningful contributions in various fields.
