initiative is designed to modernize Jimma's infrastructure through a
comprehensive digital solution, incorporating state-of-the-art technologies
such as cloud infrastructure, a call center, a robust data center, high-speed
internet connectivity, advanced CCTV systems, and an optical fiber network.
The smart city
infrastructure will have a profound impact on various sectors, including
municipal services, education, healthcare, agriculture, transportation, and
revenue collection. By streamlining service delivery, the project will
significantly enhance the overall quality of life for Jimma's residents, making
it an attractive destination for tourism, conferences, industry, and
investments.
As a key player
in realizing Digital Ethiopia, Ethio Telecom has already successfully
implemented the first phase of smart city projects in several cities, including
Addis Ababa, Adama, Sheger City, Harar, Dessie, Kombolcha, and Bahir Dar. With
project implementation underway in Jigjiga and discussions ongoing with other
city administrations, Ethio Telecom is cementing its position as a driving
force behind Ethiopia's digital transformation.
