MTN Congo has launched
its “MTN Skills Academy” program in Brazzaville. The
program, which aims to train 10,000 Congolese youth in digital skills, is a key
component of President Denis Sassou N'Guesso’s digital vision and aligns with
the National Development Plan 2022-2026. The launch event was attended by key
government officials, including the Minister of Posts, Telecommunications, and
Digital Economy, Léon Juste Ibombo, highlighting the importance of
public-private partnerships in advancing Congo’s digital transformation.
The MTN Skills
Academy is designed to address the urgent need for digital skills among young
people, both in and out of school, and to bridge the skills gap in the rapidly
expanding digital sector. By equipping Congolese youth with the tools they need
to thrive in the digital economy, the program aims to create new opportunities
for employment, entrepreneurship, and sustainable economic growth.
The launch of
the MTN Skills Academy in Congo marks a significant milestone in the country’s
journey toward digital inclusion. The program will provide participants with
access to career guidance, hands-on training, and upskilling opportunities in
areas such as coding, digital marketing, artificial intelligence (AI), and
financial technology (fintech). These skills are essential for young people to
compete in the global digital economy and contribute to Congo’s development.
Minister Léon
Juste Ibombo praised MTN Congo for its commitment to empowering Congolese youth
and supporting the government’s digital agenda. “The MTN Skills Academy is a
game-changer for Congo’s digital transformation,” he stated. “By
equipping our youth with digital skills, we are not only preparing them for the
future of work but also driving innovation and economic growth in our country.”
In a
groundbreaking move, MTN Congo announced the integration of national languages
into digital solutions as part of the MTN Skills Academy*program. This
initiative aims to make AI and other digital technologies more accessible to
Congolese citizens, particularly those in rural and underserved areas. By
incorporating local languages into digital platforms, MTN Congo is breaking
down barriers to digital inclusion and ensuring that all Congolese can benefit
from the opportunities of the digital age.
Congo is the
latest country to join the MTN Skills Academy initiative, which has already
been launched in 10 other African countries. The program is part of MTN Group’s
broader mission to drive digital and financial inclusion across the continent.
By providing young people with the skills they need to succeed in the digital
economy, the MTN Skills Academy is empowering individuals to unlock new
opportunities, enhance their employability, and contribute to their
communities.
