Safaricom Telecommunications Ethiopia PLC has reinforced its commitment to inclusive education with a significant one-million-birr donation of specialized learning materials to students with disabilities at Wolaita Sodo High School's Disability Center. The telecom provider's intervention addresses critical gaps in accessible education infrastructure across southern Ethiopia.

The comprehensive donation package included 50 braille slates with styluses, 100 braille paper holders (each containing 200 sheets), 50 white mobility canes, 20 audio recorders for visually impaired learners, 50 mathematical abacuses, 15 hearing aids, and 10 sign language reference books. These materials directly support diverse learning needs across visual, hearing, and physical disability spectrums.

Wolaita Zone Education Directorate Head H.E Merken Disa hailed the intervention as transformative, stating: "This contribution exemplifies the power of corporate-social partnerships in creating equitable learning environments." The official reaffirmed local government's commitment to supporting Safaricom Ethiopia's operations and community initiatives in the region.

Sisay Zerihun, Safaricom Ethiopia's Managing Executive for Regional External Affairs, emphasized the company's inclusive development philosophy during the handover ceremony. "True progress leaves no one behind – these tools will help dismantle barriers preventing talented students from achieving their academic potential," Zerihun remarked. The donation forms part of Safaricom's broader disability inclusion strategy, which prioritizes accessible digital solutions and community empowerment programs.
