The Department
of Communications and Digital Technologies, in collaboration with Telkom
Foundation has inaugurated a state-of-the-art ICT laboratory at Morutwa
Secondary School to commemorate World Telecommunication and Information Society
Day. The newly unveiled facility marks a significant investment in digital
education, featuring 40 workstations, 10 laptops, and reliable high-speed
internet connectivity.
Minister Solly
Malatsi emphasized the laboratory's role in bridging the digital divide and
preparing students for South Africa's evolving technological landscape. The
infrastructure will provide both learners and educators with critical digital
tools, enhancing computer literacy and supporting curriculum delivery through
modern teaching methods.
This initiative
forms part of broader efforts to equip South African youth with future-ready
skills, particularly in underserved communities. The laboratory's deployment
aligns with national objectives to strengthen digital inclusion and create
equal learning opportunities across all schools.
Telkom
Foundation's partnership demonstrates the private sector's commitment to
supporting digital transformation in education. The facility at Morutwa
Secondary School serves as a model for similar projects aimed at building
technological capacity in schools nationwide.
