Uganda fintech firm Xente Tech gets Payment Systems Operator (PSO) License

Uganda-based fintech firm Xente Tech has been granted a Payment System Operator (PSO) license by the Bank of Uganda.

Xente Tech, one of the leading fintech firms in the East African nation, simplifies payments and finance for businesses not only in Uganda but across Africa. And having received authorization from the central bank to operate payment systems in Uganda will no doubt bring the services of Xente to the doorsteps of customers.

Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Xente Tech, Allan Rwakatunga is optimistic about Xente’s future, noting that the availability of the new license will afford them the opportunity to roll out world-class financial technology solutions to businesses in Africa.

“I am very happy to announce that we have acquired the Payment Systems Operator (PSO) license under the National Payment Systems Act issued by the Bank of Uganda. We thank the Central Bank for their diligent support, tireless effort, adherence to the process, and their ability to identify us as a suitable player in the Financial Technology space in Uganda,” he acknowledged.
