Kunle Awosika has been appointed by Microsoft as the new Managing Director of its Africa Transformation Office (ATO).
Describing himself on his Linkedin social media platform as a veteran in the information and communications technology space with more than 22 years of international working experience providing value and increased capacity to both private and public sector organizations, Kunle, who succeeds Wael Elkabbany in his new role is expected to drive Microsoft ATO’s strategies for digital initiatives on the African continent.
Commenting on his appointment, the General Manager for Microsoft Africa Regional Cluster, Wael Elkabbany, acknowledged Kunle’s multifaceted experience on the continent and deep understanding of transformative technology, adding that he is ideally placed to lead the strategy, investments, and initiatives of Microsoft’s transformation plans for the Africa continent.
In remarks on his new role, Kunle Awosika said, “I look forward to playing a role in unlocking Africa’s potential as the ATO develops and steers strategic partnership with governments, international organizations, and partners to accelerate digital transformation agendas and fuel a knowledge-based economy.”
Kunle holds an MBA in Marketing and Strategy from Keele University, UK, and a B.Sc. in Business Administration from the University of Lagos, Nigeria.
Launched in 2021, the Africa Transformation Office, which is a subsidiary of Microsoft, is mandated to steer digital transformation initiatives across Africa with a focus on enabling growth and fuelling investment in four essential development areas, including digital infrastructure, skilling, small and medium enterprise (SME’s), and startups.
