MTN Group has partnered with Sanlam to showcase a selection of artworks from over 75 artists from South Africa, the African continent, and the global diasporic community. The exhibition, which took place at Sanlam’s Offices in Sandton, witnessed the display of over 100 pieces of artwork.

This is not MTN and Sanlam’s first collaboration. In August 2021, the companies announced that they had joined forces in an exclusive strategic alliance to develop and distribute a comprehensive range of insurance, investment, and savings products to their customers across Africa.

Joining other leaders at the exhibition was the MTN Group President and CEO, Ralph Mupita Ralph, who reiterated MTN’s passion for ensuring that Africans are given dignity and hope.

“At MTN, we are passionate about ensuring that we give Africans dignity and hope- where Africans don’t really look down on themselves, because they’re not capable, they’re excluded digitally and financially,” he said.

“We at MTN believe that is a social purpose of ours to see people smiling; many of these people are young, and we need to give them hope. In Sanlam, we believe we have a partner who has the same values, the same partnership model, and a love for this continent,” he added.

Curator of the Sanlam Art Collection, Stefan Hundt, in his opening address, also said, “ the present exhibition with MTN Art Collection was conceived to be one of a complimentary collaboration in the spirit of the title: Re Mmôgô (We are Together, translated from Se Tswana).

Other dignitaries in attendance were the Minister of Finance, Enoch Godongwana, Sanlam Group CEO Paul Hanratty, Sanlam Board Chairman Elias Masilela, and Sanlam Board Deputy Chair Patrice Motsepe.

The exhibition will run until 27 January 2023 and can be viewed by appointment on weekdays from 09h00 to 16h30.
