The
Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Flutterwave, Olugbega Agboola has
congratulated the newly appointed Governor of the Bank of Tanzania, Emmanuel
Tutuba during a courtesy visit to his office in Dar es Salaam.
Mr. Agboola who took to his
official Linkedin platform to announce the visit and meeting with the Governor, said, “I had the pleasure of meeting with the newly
appointed Governor of the Bank of Tanzania, Emmanuel Tutuba, at his office. We
had a great conversation on the opportunities in digital payments and how we
support small businesses in Tanzania.”
"This is no surprise as his track record is
visible to all, an example being his contributions to providing social safety
nets to Tanzanians through the PSSN II program during his time as Permanent
Secretary, Minister of Finance and Planning,” he added.
The
President of Tanzania, HE Samia Suluhu Hassan on Saturday, January 7 appointed
Emmanuel Mpawe Tutuba as the Bank of Tanzania's new Governor. Before the new
appointment, Mr. Tutuba was the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Finance
and Planning.
He
becomes the eighth governor to take charge of the Bank of Tanzania in 1966.
Last year, Flutterwave entered the Tanzanian eCommerce Payment ecosystem following official approval from the Bank of Tanzania to drive connected digital payment and financial inclusion by enabling merchants
and customers to trade efficiently through its platform.
“All of us at Flutterwave, especially the
Tanzanian team, will continue to look for ways to support the business
community in the country as it's a strategic country for us,” CEO Agboola
stated.
