Kenya’s
Cabinet Secretary for Information, Communications and the Digital Economy, William
Kabogo Gitau has held a bilateral meeting with AfriLabs Executive Director Anna
Ekeledo on the sidelines of the DCO Annual General Assembly in Kuwait to
explore strategic collaboration between the government and the pan-African
network of innovation hubs.

Discussions
focused on linking Kenyan digital innovation hubs to AfriLabs’ continental
programmes, expanding the network’s presence in Kenya and Eastern Africa, and
promoting balanced project distribution across the continent to support
inclusive growth. The partnership is expected to be highlighted during
AfriLabs’ engagement at the upcoming Connected Africa Summit.
The
meeting emphasized the impact of these initiatives on youth, women, and persons
living with disabilities, particularly those involved in small media
enterprises. Cabinet Secretary Kabogo also highlighted Kenya’s National
Artificial Intelligence Strategy and the draft Startup Laws Act as key
opportunities for policy collaboration and innovation.

The
discussions underline Kenya’s commitment to building a robust and
interconnected digital ecosystem that fosters innovation while ensuring no one
is left behind.
