The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) has engaged with Singapore’s Non-Resident High Commissioner in Abuja to explore a strategic partnership aimed at strengthening cooperation in digital transformation and artificial intelligence.

The high-level meeting, held at NITDA headquarters, was hosted by Engr. Discussions focused on aligning Singapore’s advanced technological expertise with Nigeria’s expanding digital economy to support innovation, capacity building, and global competitiveness.

During the engagement, NITDA outlined Nigeria’s progress in positioning itself as an active architect of digital innovation, highlighting the National Artificial Intelligence Strategy coordinated by the Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, with NITDA playing a key role in implementation. The agency also showcased its achievements in expanding digital literacy nationwide through initiatives such as the National Digital Literacy Framework and the Digital Literacy for All programme.

Both sides emphasized the importance of clear and forward-looking government policies, alongside robust regulatory frameworks, to stimulate private sector innovation and attract investment in emerging technologies, including digital assets, blockchain, and cryptocurrency.

The meeting further explored opportunities for future collaboration, including Nigeria’s potential participation in the Singapore Cooperation Programme and targeted policy support and capacity-building training. The engagement signals growing interest in deepening Nigeria–Singapore cooperation to accelerate digital transformation and strengthen leadership in the global digital economy.
