United
Bank for Africa (UBA) Ghana has hosted the Managing Director and Chief
Executive Officer of the Pan-African Payment and Settlement System (PAPSS), Mr.
Mike Ogbalu III, and the organisation’s Chief Information Officer, Mr.
Ositadimma Ugwu, for a working visit focused on enhancing cross-border payment
systems across Africa.
The
visit provided an opportunity for UBA Ghana’s Managing Director and Chief
Executive Officer, Mr. Bernard Gyebi, and the PAPSS delegation to hold in-depth
discussions on deepening collaboration to support secure, efficient and fully
interoperable payment solutions on the continent. The engagements centred on
strengthening payment infrastructure as a key enabler of intra-African trade
and financial inclusion.
Discussions
also explored ways of improving cross-border payment channels in alignment with
the objectives of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), with an
emphasis on enabling seamless transactions for businesses and individuals
operating across multiple African markets.
Mr.
Gyebi expressed appreciation to the PAPSS leadership for their visit and for
sharing insights on advancing Africa’s payments ecosystem, reaffirming UBA
Ghana’s commitment to working with strategic partners to promote regional
integration and inclusive economic growth through modern financial
infrastructure.
