Vodacom
Tanzania Plc has paid a courtesy call on the Ministry of Finance and the
Ministry of Information, Communication and Information Technology as part of
leadership introduction engagements involving the company’s Chairman, David
Tarimo, and Chief Executive Officer, Philip Besiimire.

The
meetings, held earlier this week, marked more than 25 years of Vodacom
Tanzania’s operations and investment in the country and provided an opportunity
to reflect on the operating environment, policy predictability and the evolving
role of the telecommunications and digital services sector in Tanzania’s
development.
During
the engagements, discussions focused on the sector’s position as a backbone of
the national economy and a foundational pillar of Tanzania’s transformation
agenda. Vodacom highlighted the importance of telecommunications and digital
services in enabling productivity across all sectors, supporting financial
inclusion at scale, facilitating digital public services and driving
innovation.

The
company also underscored the need for a predictable and well-aligned policy and
regulatory environment to sustain long-term investment and accelerate progress
under Tanzania’s digital transformation objectives.

Tanzania reaffirmed its commitment to constructive and collaborative engagement
with government institutions, noting that continued partnership is essential to
supporting sector growth, strengthening national competitiveness and advancing
inclusive and sustainable development across the country.
