Raafat
Hindy has been sworn in as Egypt’s new Minister of Communications and
Information Technology (MCIT) before President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, outlining
the Ministry’s key priorities for the upcoming phase.
Minister
Hindy emphasized expanding the availability and improving the quality of
digital services to facilitate citizen access, while reinforcing the ICT
sector’s role in supporting Egypt’s transition toward a fully integrated
digital economy. He highlighted the continuation of nationwide digital
infrastructure projects aimed at enhancing telecommunications and Internet
services, a cornerstone for building a digital society and driving economic
growth.
The
Minister noted ongoing initiatives under the Decent Life presidential program,
which aim to provide digital services to citizens in villages. He also stressed
the importance of advancing digital transformation projects and developing
information infrastructure in coordination with various state institutions,
with the goal of improving government efficiency, developing digital skills,
and promoting entrepreneurship.
Hindy
further outlined plans to increase digital exports and attract investment,
supporting the expansion of offshoring centers, developing the electronics
industry, boosting local manufacturing, and facilitating Egypt’s transition
from a traditional economy to a digital economy.
