Telkom’s
CEO for Consumer and Small Business, Lunga Siyo, has underscored the importance
of expanding reliable and affordable connectivity to households as a central
pillar of South Africa’s digital transformation agenda.
Commenting
in the context of the President’s 2026 State of the Nation Address (SONA), Siyo
noted that national digital progress depends on translating infrastructure
investments into meaningful access for communities. He said inclusive economic
growth and improved public service delivery are closely tied to widespread
connectivity.

Siyo
emphasized that access to digital networks now extends beyond basic
communication, playing a critical role in education, small business
participation, financial inclusion, and access to government services. He
argued that digital infrastructure delivers value only when it effectively
reaches end users.
He
also highlighted the need for sustained engagement between the public and
private sectors, stating that alignment between policy direction and
operational execution is essential for advancing connectivity expansion,
service modernization, and digital inclusion.

According
to Siyo, Telkom’s strategic priorities remain focused on expanding access,
enhancing network quality, and delivering customer-centric solutions designed
to enable broader participation in the digital economy. He added that
empowering households through connectivity is fundamental to achieving tangible
national transformation outcomes.
