Telkom
Group Chief Executive Officer Serame Taukobong has underscored the growing
importance of digital transformation in South Africa’s economic and
institutional development, describing it as an immediate national priority
rather than a future ambition.

His
remarks follow the President’s 2026 State of the Nation Address, which
highlighted the central role of modern, secure, and scalable digital systems in
building a capable state, supporting inclusive growth, and improving public
service delivery.
CEO
Taukobong noted that, as an operator of national digital infrastructure, Telkom
Group recognises the responsibility associated with enabling the country’s
digital progress. He emphasised that ongoing engagements with public sector
leadership are critical in aligning policy objectives with operational
execution.
According
to him, recent discussions with senior government leaders focused on how
infrastructure, connectivity, and enterprise technologies can enhance
institutional efficiency, expand access to services, and strengthen the
foundations of a digitally enabled state.

He
stated that South Africa’s long-term development trajectory will increasingly
depend on the effective integration of digital infrastructure with national
priorities. Telkom’s role, he added, is to deliver resilient networks, trusted
platforms, and disciplined execution to support sustainable growth and
transformation.
Telkom
Group reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining constructive and transparent
partnerships that contribute to South Africa’s digital and economic
advancement.
