The
Government of Togo has announced the establishment of Campus 42 Lomé, a new
digital training institution aimed at strengthening artificial intelligence and
technology skills among young people in the country.
The
initiative, led by the Minister of Public Sector Efficiency and Digital
Transformation, Cina Lawson, is designed to expand access to advanced digital
education and support the development of local talent in high-demand fields
such as programming, data science, and artificial intelligence.

Campus
42 Lomé will adopt an innovative, practice-based learning model that emphasises
autonomy and hands-on training, without requiring formal academic
qualifications for admission. According to the government, the school will
train hundreds of Togolese youth annually, equipping them with skills aligned
with the needs of the global digital economy.
Lawson
described investment in artificial intelligence training as a key strategic
priority for the country’s future, stressing that no national AI strategy can
succeed without a strong pipeline of skilled talent.
The
initiative forms part of broader efforts to strengthen Togo’s digital ecosystem
and create new opportunities for young people in the technology sector.

The
project has received support from French Minister for Europe and Foreign
Affairs Jean-Noël Barrot, as well as contributions from the Axian Group and the
42 Network, which are partnering in its implementation.
Officials
say the launch of Campus 42 Lomé represents a significant step in positioning
Togo as an emerging hub for digital skills development in West Africa.
