Guinea has intensified its engagement on digital transformation and technological development following a series of high-level meetings and site visits on the sidelines of the Connected Africa Summit in Nairobi, Kenya.

The Guinean delegation, led by Minister of Posts, Telecommunications and Digital Economy Mourana Soumah, held discussions with Kenya’s Cabinet Secretary for Information, Communications and Digital Economy, William Kabogo Gitau, to identify areas of bilateral cooperation and exchange of expertise in advancing digital transformation.

The engagements focused on strengthening collaboration in key areas including digital infrastructure development, industrialisation, and technological sovereignty, with both countries exploring opportunities to leverage shared experiences in building resilient digital ecosystems.

The delegation also met with representatives of the International Finance Corporation at its regional headquarters to discuss potential financing and support for Guinea’s strategic digital and infrastructure projects.

As part of efforts to benchmark successful models, the Guinean team visited several industrial and technological facilities, including an assembly plant for electronic devices such as phones, tablets, and computers, and a fibre optic manufacturing facility described as unique within the region.

The delegation further toured Konza Technopolis, Kenya’s flagship technology park, which serves as a model for planned digital infrastructure and innovation-led development.

Officials said the engagements provided valuable insights into the role of local manufacturing and industrial capacity in supporting digital transformation, noting that sustainable digital growth requires a combination of infrastructure investment, policy direction, and strategic industrial development.

The visit is expected to inform Guinea’s approach to strengthening its digital economy and advancing its ambitions in technological sovereignty.
