Mauritius
Telecom has successfully concluded its AI Video Contest 2026, a national
initiative aimed at promoting creativity and innovation through artificial
intelligence, with the announcement of this year’s winners at an official
ceremony in Port Louis.
The
competition, organised by Mauritius Telecom in collaboration with the Mauritius
Film Development Corporation (MFDC), brought together 157 participants from
Mauritius and Rodrigues across different age groups. The initiative invited
citizens to use AI tools to create short videos envisioning “the Mauritius of
tomorrow.”
The
award ceremony was held at Telecom Tower and attended by Minister of Arts and
Culture Mahen Gondeea, alongside senior leadership from Mauritius Telecom,
including CEO Veemal Gungadin and Chairman Sarat Lallah. Representatives of the
MFDC, including CEO Kevin Gutty and Chairman Arvind Mattadeen, as well as MBC
Director General Alain Gordon-Gentil, were also present.

Gukhoul
Shivam Singh emerged as the overall winner with his entry titled “2070 A Letter
From Tomorrow,” receiving an iPhone 17 and a cash prize of Rs 15,000. Vivek
Binda secured second place, while Shane Alvein Gokhool placed third.
All
ten finalists received a Rs 2,000 my.t money voucher and were awarded
opportunities to participate in an exclusive Sony Masterclass in filmmaking, as
well as production workshops aimed at further developing their creative and
technical skills.
Organisers
said the contest reflects growing interest in artificial intelligence as a tool
for creative expression and underscores efforts to engage citizens in shaping
future narratives through digital innovation.
