TowerCo of Africa (TOA) Uganda and MTN Uganda have marked a significant milestone in efforts to expand telecommunications connectivity in Uganda’s West Nile region with the official launch of MTN’s network on TOA infrastructure at the Abira site in Arua District.

The launch took place during MTN Uganda’s FreeYOFire activities across the West Nile region and underscores ongoing efforts to improve digital access in underserved communities.

According to TOA Uganda, the deployment highlights the growing importance of shared telecommunications infrastructure in accelerating network expansion and improving service delivery across the country.

The West Nile region has experienced increasing demand for digital services, making investments in telecommunications infrastructure critical to expanding connectivity, supporting economic activity, and reducing the digital divide.

Officials noted that tower infrastructure providers play a vital role in enabling mobile network operators to extend coverage more efficiently while enhancing network quality for consumers.

The collaboration between TOA Uganda and MTN Uganda is expected to support broader efforts to connect more communities to digital services and contribute to the growth of Uganda’s digital economy.

The partnership also reflects a wider industry trend toward infrastructure sharing as operators seek cost-effective ways to expand network reach and improve access to communications services in rural and remote areas.
