The Postal
& Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of Zimbabwe has commemorated
World Telecommunication and Information Society Day 2026 with the official
handover of the Nemamwa Digital Centre, as part of broader efforts to
strengthen digital resilience across the country.
This year’s
WTISD was marked under the theme “Digital Lifelines: Strengthening Resilience
in a Connected World.”
POTRAZ said it
has continued to enhance connectivity nationwide, with 98 digital centres
upgraded with Starlink technology, including 10 centres in Masvingo Province.
To improve service reliability, 59 digital centres and post offices have been
solarised across Zimbabwe.
In the
education sector, the authority has distributed 25,264 computers to 1,419
schools nationwide. In Masvingo Province alone, 3,030 computers have been
allocated to 175 schools, helping to bridge the digital divide and provide
learners with access to technology-driven education.
