Uganda’s Ministry of ICT and
National Guidance has conducted an infrastructure familiarisation tour of key
digital training and innovation facilities as part of efforts to strengthen the
country’s digital transformation agenda.
The tour was led by Minister
of State for National Guidance, Hon. Alioni Yorke Odria, together with the
Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of ICT and National Guidance, Dr. Aminah
Zawedde, and focused on assessing facilities at the Uganda Institute of Information
and Communications Technology (UICT) and the National ICT Innovation Hub.
The delegation inspected
ongoing infrastructure developments and key facilities designed to support
digital skills development, technology-enabled learning and innovation.
The visit included reviews
of renovation works at the Administration Block, smart classroom facilities,
the Classroom Block housing Audio Visual Resource (AVR) Labs, ICT and
Engineering Labs, as well as the Professional Certification Centre.
The team also assessed
developments at the hostel, canteen and training centre, including the Cyber
Security Lab, before touring the National ICT Innovation Hub.
The Ministry said the
assessment reflects its commitment to investing in modern infrastructure and
innovation spaces that support the growth of a future-ready digital workforce.
Through continued
development of training facilities, emerging technology platforms and
innovation centres, Uganda aims to strengthen its pipeline of skilled
professionals capable of driving digital transformation and national
development.
