Uganda has launched two new
digital public-service platforms under the Uganda Digital Acceleration Project
(UDAP-GovNet), aimed at improving access to digital training and strengthening
the delivery of government services.
The platforms, U-Learn and
the Uganda Human Rights Commission (UHRC) Case Management System, were launched
by the Minister of State for ICT, Joyce Nabosa Ssebugwawo.
U-Learn was developed in
collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Sports to provide teachers
with self-paced training in digital and financial literacy. The platform is
designed to support offline access, allowing educators to undertake training even
in areas with limited or inconsistent internet connectivity.
More than 6,600 educators
from 26 institutions have already enrolled on the platform, with hundreds
having completed courses and earned verified certificates.
The second platform, the
UHRC Case Management System, provides a centralised digital system through
which the Uganda Human Rights Commission can receive, track and manage public
complaints.
The system is expected to
improve the efficiency and transparency of complaint handling while enabling
citizens to submit and follow up on human rights cases digitally.
The two platforms form part
of 14 digital public services being introduced through UDAP-GovNet as Uganda
accelerates the digitalisation of government services.
The initiative is aimed at
making public services more accessible, efficient and transparent while
expanding the use of digital technologies across government institutions.
Through U-Learn, teachers
can access professional development opportunities digitally, while the UHRC
system provides citizens with a more convenient channel for accessing human
rights complaint services.
