BasiGo and NCBA Group have partnered to finance 1,000 electric vehicles for Kenya’s public service vehicle (PSV) market, in a move aimed at accelerating the adoption of clean public transport across the country.

Through the partnership, BasiGo and NCBA Group will support the scaling of electric van financing for public transport operators, expanding access to more affordable options for operators seeking to transition from conventional vehicles to electric mobility.

The partnership will also support the expansion of BasiGo’s all-inclusive Pay-As-You-Drive model, making it easier and more affordable for PSV operators to switch to electric vehicles.

Operators will additionally have access to lower-cost asset financing options to directly purchase BasiGo electric vans for their fleets.

The collaboration builds on NCBA’s growing commitment to becoming a leader in financing e-mobility in Kenya. Through its KES 2 billion e-mobility financing facility, the bank has invested more than KES 0.8 billion to date in electric vehicle assets in Kenya.

By combining BasiGo’s technology, infrastructure and business model with NCBA’s experience and leadership in asset finance, the partnership is expected to unlock the next level of scale for clean electric public transport in Kenya.

The financing arrangement is set to support the continued growth of electric mobility in the country while providing PSV operators with greater access to financing solutions as Kenya advances its transition toward cleaner and more sustainable transportation.
