The National Agency for
Digital Infrastructures and Frequencies (ANINF) has highlighted the role of
digital infrastructure and inclusion in supporting the economic transformation
of Gabon’s Ogooué-Ivindo province.
ANINF participated in the
Ivindo Economic Forum, which opened in Makokou under the theme “Ivindo, lands
of sustainable opportunities and investment.” The two-day forum is focused on
positioning Ogooué-Ivindo as a strategic hub for sustainable investment in
Gabon and Central Africa.
The forum brought together
public decision-makers, investors, financial institutions, companies and
development partners to identify, structure and implement high-impact
investment opportunities in the province.
Speaking during the forum’s
panels, ANINF Director General Alberto Mounguengui Moudoki identified digital
infrastructure and digital inclusion as two key pillars for advancing
territorial development.
He said digital
infrastructure, including computer networks, internet connectivity and reliable
energy, provides the essential foundation for technological deployment, while
digital inclusion ensures that technology delivers direct benefits to
communities through access to information, simplified basic services and
communication adapted to local realities.
As part of its contribution
to the province’s digital transformation, ANINF has deployed public Wi-Fi
infrastructure and established secure energy systems aimed at ensuring the
availability and continuity of digital facilities.
The infrastructure is
expected to enable populations in Ogooué-Ivindo to access digitised
administrative permits, strengthen education and training through online
learning resources and support local economic development by creating
opportunities for entrepreneurship.
ANINF said these
interventions will also contribute to reducing the digital divide by bringing
digital services closer to communities in the province.
