AI Skills and Compute Africa
has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the African Institute for
Mathematical Sciences (AIMS) to strengthen collaboration in artificial
intelligence skills, research and computing infrastructure across Africa.
The partnership will expand
access to compute resources, strengthen research capacity and support African
researchers and technology builders in moving their work from experimentation
and research towards real-world deployment.
AI Skills and Compute Africa
said access to adequate infrastructure is an important part of creating an
environment where African technology talent can thrive and develop solutions
that respond to local needs and opportunities.
Under the collaboration,
researchers and innovators will have greater opportunities to access computing
resources and strengthen their ability to test, develop and scale AI
applications.
The partnership is also
expected to support research and innovation by creating stronger connections
between AI skills development, scientific research and the computing
infrastructure required to turn ideas into practical solutions.
AI Skills and Compute Africa
said the agreement could help more African researchers move from exploring what
is technologically possible to developing meaningful innovations capable of
addressing challenges within their communities.
