Côte d’Ivoire is seeking to
make emerging technologies a lever for economic growth, competitiveness and
technological sovereignty, with the government outlining measures to strengthen
connectivity, digitalise public administration and support the country’s
startup ecosystem.
Minister of Digital
Transition and Technological Innovation Djibril Ouattara outlined the ambition
during the launch of Ivoire Tech Forum 2026, saying the technological shift is
already underway and the focus should now be on how quickly the country can respond.
He said achieving the
ambition will require concrete action, including strengthening connectivity,
accelerating the digital transformation of the administration, developing
digital skills, supporting innovation and creating conditions for private
investors to increase financing for startups.
The minister also announced
that Côte d’Ivoire will soon take a new step with the implementation of a
startup labelling platform, which will enable startups to access mechanisms
provided under the country’s fiscal framework.
According to Ouattara, the
objective is to support the emergence of more Ivorian technology companies,
help them scale their operations and contribute to the creation of greater
economic value and jobs in the country.
The government’s approach
also places emphasis on strengthening the conditions for innovation and
investment as Côte d’Ivoire seeks to develop a stronger domestic technology
ecosystem.
The minister said this
ambition is also central to Ivoire Tech Forum, which aims to position Abidjan
as a place where innovation connects with capital, markets and opportunities.
The 2026 edition of Ivoire
Tech Forum is scheduled to take place in Abidjan from November 11 to 13, 2026.
