Vodacom Congo has marked
seven consecutive years without a work-related fatality across the Democratic
Republic of Congo, citing strengthened safety practices and collective
commitment among employees, suppliers, partners and public institutions.
The company celebrated the
milestone, under the theme "Lead together, Act together, Succeed
together", bringing together employees, partners, suppliers, service
providers and representatives of public institutions around a commitment to
making safety a non-negotiable value.
Vodacom Congo said the
achievement is based on five pillars: Visible leadership – at all levels of the
organization; Strengthened provider governance — from selection to execution;
Operational risk management; Road safety and wellness programs; and a "No
One Gets Hurt" culture embedded in daily practices.
During the last fiscal year,
more than 6,000 students were sensitized to road safety in Kinshasa, Katanga
and Kongo Central, while millions of Congolese were reached through festive
campaigns conducted in four languages across billboards, television, radio and
field activities.
The company also reported a
+400% improvement in reporting culture in its supply chain, with 9 suppliers
exposed to international HSE best practices and more than 100 delegates
mobilized around safety leadership.
Vodacom Congo said the
achievement was the result of the daily vigilance of its employees, adherence
to standards by subcontractors and suppliers, the commitment of business
partners and support from public institutions.
The company said its goal
remains Zero Damage, while emphasizing that the milestone should not lead to
reduced vigilance.
