The West African Science
Service Centre on Climate Change and Adapted Land Use (WASCAL) has discussed
stronger collaboration with Benin, including the proposed co-organisation of
the International Conference on Climate Change and Just Energy Transition (I3CJET
2027).
WASCAL Executive Director,
Prof. Emmanuel Wendsongré Ramdé, met with Benin’s Minister for Higher Education
and Scientific Research, Hon. Dr. Romarique Sèdami Mèdégan Fagla, in Cotonou to
discuss the proposed collaboration.
The International Conference
on Climate Change and Just Energy Transition (I3CJET 2027) is scheduled to take
place from 25th to 29th October 2027 in Cotonou.
The conference is expected
to bring together key stakeholders to advance dialogue on climate change and a
just energy transition.
The engagement also
highlighted WASCAL’s longstanding investment in climate research, education and
innovation in Benin.
WASCAL said it remains
committed to connecting science, policy and practice for a climate-resilient
West Africa.
