Kenya’s Principal Secretary
for the State Department of ICT and Digital Economy, Eng. John Kipchumba Tanui,
has hosted a delegation from the Malawi Defence Force Command and Staff College
to discuss cybersecurity, critical infrastructure protection and the role of
digital technologies in national security.
The delegation was led by
Commandant Major General Vincent Moyo and included participants from Malawi,
Kenya, Tanzania, Zambia and Zimbabwe, providing a platform for shared learning
and strengthening regional cooperation.
The discussions focused on
the growing intersection between digital transformation and national security,
particularly cybersecurity, critical infrastructure protection, artificial
intelligence, cloud infrastructure, secure communications and data-driven
decision-making.
“As Africa’s economies
become increasingly digital, national resilience will depend on our ability to
secure the infrastructure, systems and data that underpin our economies and
public services,” Tanui said in a LinkedIn post.
He emphasised the importance
of building bridges of knowledge, innovation and strategic collaboration across
institutions and countries to support a safer, more prosperous and digitally
secure Africa.
