Morocco aims to generate a
contribution of 100 billion dirhams to gross domestic product (GDP), create
50,000 jobs and train 200,000 artificial intelligence (AI) talents by 2030
under its Morocco IA 2030 roadmap, Minister Delegate in charge of Digital Transition
and Administrative Reform Amal El Fallah-Seghrouchni has said.
The minister outlined the
targets on October 8, 2026, in Tangier during the eighth edition of the AUSIM
Conference, held under the High Patronage of King Mohammed VI. The conference
was organised under the theme “AImpowering: through Innovation, Intelligence
and Sovereignty”.
In her speech, entitled “AI
Made in Morocco: the speed of a conquest of sovereignty”, El Fallah-Seghrouchni
stressed that digital sovereignty depends on mastering infrastructure, data,
computing capacities and artificial intelligence models, alongside developing
national skills.
She presented the ministry’s
vision of a frugal, inclusive and responsible AI sector, developed in Morocco
for the domestic market while remaining open to international opportunities.
The ambition links administrative modernisation and improved public services
with the development of the digital economy.
Among the priorities she
highlighted were the development of sovereign infrastructure and improved
access to computing resources for researchers and startups, the deployment of
the JAZARI institutes network, and the design of AI models adapted to Arabic,
Darija and Amazigh.
The minister also emphasised
strengthening training, including introducing AI education from childhood, as
part of efforts to develop the skills needed to support Morocco’s AI ambitions.
She called for a shift from
experimentation to the deployment of concrete AI solutions in public services,
supported by a framework of trust that guarantees data protection and
cybersecurity.
