Dr Arnold Agaba, Lecturer in
Public International Air Law and Government Regulation of Space Activities and
Postdoctoral Researcher at McGill University’s Institute of Air and Space Law
(IASL), has received the Space Law Award for Young Achievers for his
contributions to the development of space law across Africa.
Agaba was recognised at the
dinner of the International Institute of Space Law (IISL) during the 77th
International Astronautical Congress last week, according to the McGill
Institute of Air and Space Law.
Through his leadership of
the Research Group on Air and Space Law of Africa, Agaba has contributed to
advancing space law education across the continent and engaging directly with
the needs of emerging African space sectors, the institute said.
Beyond his research, Agaba
is committed to teaching and mentoring master’s students. The institute
highlighted his openness, generosity with his time and dedication to supporting
students, often going beyond his formal responsibilities.
Describing him as an
exceptional scholar, mentor and colleague, the institute said his work had made
a remarkable impact on the African space law community.
Despite being a recognised
leader within the international space law community, Agaba remains one of the
kindest, most humble and approachable colleagues, the institute said,
congratulating him on the achievement.
