A military delegation from
the Nigerian Army Staff College has visited the Ethiopian Artificial
Intelligence Institute, expressing admiration for its work in artificial
intelligence, smart border controls and security technology.
Members of the delegation
highlighted the contribution of the Smart Border Control System (SDS) to the
control of imports and exports, a system the institute developed for the
Customs Commission.
“Ethiopia's border controls
with the help of artificial intelligence technology are remarkable,” members of
the delegation said.
The delegation also said
other African countries should modernise their security and crime prevention
activities, citing the institute’s work on crime prevention through smart
cities and the establishment of smart police stations.
Officials of the institute
said it was working towards becoming Africa’s leading centre for artificial
intelligence development.
The institute also said it
would work with other African countries to protect the continent’s digital
sovereignty, both in Ethiopia and through cooperation with its African
partners.
During the visit, the
delegation and institute officials discussed areas for further collaboration.
