The Ghana Meteorological
Agency (GMet) is participating in the African Summer School on AI for Weather
and Climate Modelling 2026 to strengthen the application of artificial
intelligence in weather forecasting and climate modelling.
The training explores key
data sources, including station observations, satellite products, reanalysis,
forecast data and climate model outputs.
The programme highlights the
importance of reliable, locally relevant African data in advancing weather and
climate services across the continent.
GMet’s participation comes
amid efforts to strengthen the use of artificial intelligence in weather and
climate modelling, with an emphasis on data that reflects African conditions
and supports weather and climate services across the region.
