Four teams have advanced to the National Mentorship Lab following the MoMo Fintech Lab Zonal Pitch Competition held at the Twin Oval Auditorium, University for Development Studies (UDS) Campus in Tamale.

MoMo Covert, PayitBetta, MoMoneyo and Adaashi were selected from 12 teams that participated in the competition, which brought the Northern Zone bootcamp to a close.

The four teams will receive further guidance at the National Mentorship Lab to refine and strengthen their solutions.

As part of the engagement, MoMo Chief Executive Officer Shaibu Haruna, Chief Financial Officer Susan Yawson and their team paid a courtesy call on the Northern Regional Minister, Ali Adolf John.

The Minister commended MoMo’s contribution to advancing financial inclusion but expressed concern about loan defaults and the potential risks they pose to the business. He welcomed the MoMo Fintech Lab initiative and pledged his support.

The team also engaged the Vice-Chancellor of the University for Development Studies, Professor Mohammed Muniru Iddrisu, who applauded MoMo for creating a platform that promotes innovation.

He reaffirmed his commitment to encouraging students to participate in competitions of this nature to test their knowledge, creativity and potential.

The National Mentorship Lab is expected to give the four advancing teams an opportunity to further develop their ideas as they progress from the zonal competition.
