Uganda’s ICT sector
delegation, led by Hon. Joyce Nabosa Ssebugwawo, is in Cairo, Egypt, for an
artificial intelligence (AI) benchmarking engagement ahead of the development
of Uganda’s National AI Strategy.
The delegation was received
by Hon. Raafat Hendy of Egypt’s Ministry of Communications and Information
Technology (MCIT) and engaged with department heads on Egypt’s digital
transformation blueprint, AI talent readiness, data management and sharing, and
AI research and innovation.
The engagement offers Uganda
an opportunity to draw lessons and explore best practices to inform a national
AI strategy that drives innovation, strengthens local capacity and advances
digital transformation.
The benchmarking exercise
forms part of Uganda’s efforts to learn from Egypt’s experience in digital
transformation and AI development as it prepares to develop a national
framework to guide the adoption and advancement of artificial intelligence.
