Côte d’Ivoire has reaffirmed its commitment to an integrated, inclusive, innovative and sovereign digital Africa as it participates in the 6th Ordinary Session of the African Union Specialized Technical Committee on Communication and Information Technology (STC-CICT6) in Libreville, Gabon.

The Minister of Digital Transition and Technological Innovation, Djibril Ouattara, is representing the country at the ministerial meeting, which is being held on October 29 and 30, 2026.

The meeting provides a framework for consultation on the continent’s priorities in digital transformation, the development of communication infrastructure and the governance of emerging technologies.

The agenda includes examining the conclusions of the experts’ session and adopting the Libreville 2026 Ministerial Declaration and the African Joint Proposals ahead of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Plenipotentiary Conference (PP-26), scheduled to take place in Doha, Qatar.

Through its participation, Côte d’Ivoire is also renewing its candidacy for the ITU Council and seeking the support of African states to promote more equitable and inclusive global digital governance.

The Ministry said African cooperation remains essential to making digital technology a sustainable driver of development, competitiveness and social progress.
