The National Communication Authority (NCA) of South Sudan and the Bank of South Sudan have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen institutional collaboration and leverage technology in transforming the country's financial landscape.

The agreement was signed by NCA Director General, Eng. Gieth Kon Mathiang, and the Governor of the Bank of South Sudan, Hon. Dr. Addis Ababa Othow.

The partnership seeks to bridge telecommunications regulation with central banking oversight to modernise how financial technology serves the country.

Under the joint framework, both institutions will align their mandates to strengthen cybersecurity networks, protect consumers from online threats, foster healthy competition for local fintech innovators and establish seamless channels for real-time data sharing and cross-sector enforcement.

Highlighting the vision behind the initiative, Mathiang emphasised that resilient technology is the bedrock of modern banking and essential for earning complete public trust in digital solutions.

Governor Othow echoed this sentiment, noting that close collaboration across regulatory lines is vital to protecting national financial security and delivering reliable services to every corner of the country.

The two institutions said the partnership would help establish a stable digital ecosystem where South Sudanese can send, spend and save with confidence, making everyday financial transactions safer and more reliable.
