Senegal Numérique S.A. (SENUM) and Alibaba Cloud have held a technical workshop to define the main lines of deployment of Senegal’s planned sovereign cloud infrastructure as the country advances its digital transformation agenda.

The workshop brought together teams from Alibaba Cloud and SENUM to discuss the implementation of the future sovereign cloud, which is expected to support major digital initiatives under Senegal’s New Technological Deal.

The planned deployment will include major programmes linked to Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI), Government Enterprise Architecture (AEG), Public Cloud and an AI Scaling Hub.

SENUM said the sovereign cloud and the Programme for the Promotion of the Digitalization of Public Administration (PRODAP) are two fundamental pillars of the New Technological Deal and the contribution of digital technology to Senegal’s transformation agenda.

The initiative is expected to support the country's efforts to advance the digitalisation of public administration and strengthen its digital infrastructure through the development of sovereign cloud capabilities.

The technical discussions mark a step towards defining the implementation framework for the future sovereign cloud, although SENUM did not disclose a deployment timeline or further technical details.
