Vula Mobile has been adjudged the winner of this year’s Data for Health Innovation Challenge organized by Health Tech Hub Africa (HTHA) in collaboration with the Global Fund.

The Data for Health Innovation Challenge aims to leverage technology to improve healthcare data integration and interoperability for improving the detection and treatment of infectious diseases. The challenge supports The Global Fund’s mission to fight tuberculosis, AIDS and malaria, and strengthen health systems to ensure a healthier, safer, and more equitable future for all.

The challenge grant is USD 115,000 to support the validation of a use case identified by a Ministry of Health, in this case, the South Africa Department of Health (DoH).

Vula’s team will work closely with the DoH for scope finalisation and project implementation by mid-December 2023. The use case complements the HTHA’s mission, which is to fast-track health innovation into the public health system.

Vula Mobile is a mobile and web app that connects health workers to get patients to the right healthcare with the help of its digital solutions designed to solve the challenges faced in rural and remote areas with frontline health workers unable to get access to specialist advice.
