Safaricom M-PESA Mobile Financial Services PLC partners Bank of Abyssinia to roll out mobile banking services

M-PESA Mobile Financial Services PLC and Bank of Abyssinia have signed a
partnership agreement for supper agency, retail agency, and mobile banking
services. According to a brief statement issued on Safaricom Ethiopia’s official
social media LinkedIn platform, through the collaboration, all M-PESA customers
in Ethiopia will be able to deposit and withdraw cash at all Bank of Abyssinia
branches.
It noted
that customers of Bank of Abyssinia will also enjoy the convenience of keeping
track of their finances via Bank of Abyssinia's mobile banking through USSD
(*815#) and mobile app using their Safaricom 07 line to transfer money
from their Bank of Abyssinia account to their M-PESA wallet and vice versa, pay
bills, check account balances, purchase airtime, and access other mobile banking
services from the bank.
“Customers with a Safaricom line are required to visit their
nearest Bank of Abyssinia Branch with a valid ID card to integrate their Bank
of Abyssinia account into their Safaricom lines,” it stated.
