MTN Zambia presents Johnson & Johnson vaccines to Health Ministry

Lusaka, Zambia - The Chief Executive Officer of MTN Zambia, Bart Hofker has presented over 151,2002 doses of Johnson & Johnson vaccines to the Ministry of Health, Permanent Secretary, Dr. George Magwende.



According to MTN Zambia on its official LinkedIn platform, the gesture is to compliment the government of Zambia’s effort to reduce the spread of Covid-19 by increasing the number of vaccinated people while still encouraging the observance of all the other Covid-19 protocols.


It noted that the donation is part of the African Union and MTN Group joint announcement that was made on 27th January 2021 where MTN had pledged USD 25million to assist the Africa Center for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC) to secure seven million Covid-19 vaccine dose that would be rollout to healthcare workers across Africa Union’s 55 member states.

The vaccines have been procured through MTN collaboration with the African Union, Africa CDC, AVANT, and the United Nations Children’s Education Fund (UNICEF).
