Nigeria’s Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Isa
Pantami has launched Microsoft’s new ultra-modern Africa Development Center in
Lagos.
The state-of-the-art facility situated in the King Tower on
Glover Street, Ikoyi will be housing the product engineering, ecosystem developments,
innovation teams, and the Microsoft Garage.
Speaking during the launch, Mr. Pantami applauded Microsoft
for its decision to locate one of its Africa centers in Nigeria, adding that
the facility would help Nigeria to further grow its digital economy.
According to him, the presence of Microsoft strengthens the
country’s position as a leading regional digital innovation hub, putting Nigeria
on the path to having the biggest digital economy.
Other dignitaries present at the launch were the Director-General of Nigeria’s
National Information Technology Development Agency, Inuwa Kashifu Abdullahi, and
the Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
Microsoft ADC Nigeria hub which is the first of its kind in Africa
is expected to play a strategic role in nurturing innovation and help startups
to scale.
