Safaricom
Telecommunications Ethiopia PLC has been honored by the Ministry of Revenues as
a loyal taxpayer. The company received this prestigious award during an
official ceremony held at the Prime Minister's office, with Safaricom
Ethiopia’s CEO, Mr. Wim Vanhelleputte, accepting the award from Prime Minister
Abiy Ahmed (PhD) of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia.
This
recognition comes as part of the Ministry of Revenues' annual awards for
federal high taxpayers, an initiative that acknowledges companies demonstrating
consistent dedication to their tax obligations. Safaricom Ethiopia, a key
player in the country's telecommunications landscape, has been commended for
its consecutive years of tax compliance and substantial contributions to the
national economy.
Speaking on the
achievement, Mr. Vanhelleputte expressed pride in Safaricom Ethiopia's role in
supporting Ethiopia's economic growth. “This award is a testament to our
unwavering commitment to fulfilling our corporate responsibilities and
contributing to the prosperity of the country. We are honored to be recognized
as a loyal taxpayer and look forward to continuing our efforts in driving
economic development,” he stated.

into the Ethiopian market, Safaricom Ethiopia has not only played a critical
