The Director-General of the National Space Research & Development Agency (NASRDA), Dr. Matthew Adepoju  has called for greater investment in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) education for the country’s youth. Dr. Adepoju made this appeal during a recent meeting at NASRDA headquarters with Dr. Mamu Mohammed, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of STEM Child Care Academy (SCCA), in Abuja.

He revealed that the future of Nigeria hinges on nurturing the next generation through innovative STEM education, and by developing critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and creativity, the younger population will be equipped to tackle the complex challenges facing Nigeria and the world. "Our ability to foster and invest in independent, innovative young minds is crucial to securing a viable and prosperous future for Nigeria," he stated. "STEM education is essential to build a strong foundation that will drive social and technological progress in our country."

One of NASRDA’s efforts to promote STEM engagement includes inviting the STEM Child Care Academy team and their students to showcase their work at the agency's upcoming 25th Anniversary celebration. As part of this initiative, NASRDA will offer students access to its Space Museum, providing a 100% subsidized experience to inspire them with the wonders of space science and technology.

Dr. Mamu Mohammed, representing SCCA, highlighted the academy's decade-long mission of introducing young learners to cutting-edge fields such as coding, robotics, 3D design, animation, and fabrication. SCCA has also formed strategic partnerships with international firms, including a collaboration with an Indian company and the integration of Cambridge-licensed frameworks, ensuring that students are well-prepared for the future.

The Director-General of the National Space Research & Development Agency (NASRDA) Dr. Adepoju reiterated the importance of such collaborations, stating that by aligning efforts with institutions like SCCA, Nigeria can lay the groundwork for becoming a global leader in STEM innovation. "We are committed to developing initiatives that will ensure Nigeria’s competitiveness in the global STEM community, while fostering the creativity and intellectual curiosity of our young people," he added.
